ASHUR
About Me
Hi, I'm Ashur Heidrich, but most people just know me as Ashur. I'm an American content creator, and my main series is "Reality Check."
My goal with "Reality Check" is to find out how realistic things are, primarily in movies and TV shows. For my long-form content, this means physically testing things when possible—from weapons to scenarios—to see if they hold up. For short-form, I might reality-check just about anything. It's my direct response to the hype and hot-takes that dominate media, offering an honest and physically-tested perspective.
My Mission
"The core philosophy of 'Reality Check' is simple: stop talking and start testing."
In an online world saturated with clickbait and rage-farming, my content is built on a foundation of honest critique and physical experimentation. My videos are known for their in-depth research, thoughtful composition, and respect for your time and intelligence. As I've noted, these long-form videos take longer to create, but I'm fully committed to making them.
My Origin Story: Zombie Go Boom & GuillotineGuy
Long-time fans might know me from my earlier work in online video. As a younger creator, I was featured on the popular YouTube channel "Zombie Go Boom," a show dedicated to testing hypothetical zombie-apocalypse weapons. That early experience helped shape my on-camera presence and understanding of the platform.
Following this, I built a significant following on TikTok under the moniker "GuillotineGuy." That persona, focused on edgy and often controversial content, resonated with a lot of people. However, due to the platform's increasingly strict content restrictions, I made a strategic pivot. I moved away from the "GuillotineGuy" persona to focus on what I truly enjoy: making content, which led me to create "Reality Check."
The Plan Going Forward
Today, I'm focused entirely on growing the "Reality Check" series and building a community around honest media criticism. My plan is to keep making the content I love.
- Continue making long-form, in-depth "Reality Check" videos.
- Create short-form "Reality Checks" to share quicker insights.
- Make shorts replying to comments and engaging directly with the community.
This website serves as the central hub for my work and the official home for everything I create as Ashur.
